Manchester United can sign Memphis Depay for £11.3million

According to the Express, Manchester United can sign Lyon star Memphis Depay for just £11.3million.

The club has been unable to reach an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for Jadon Sancho. With time running out, we might have to look elsewhere.

Not only will Depay be a cheaper option, but he is well aware of the pressure that comes with donning the United jersey.

Brought in by former boss Louis van Gaal in 2015. A prolific player for PSV Eindhoven, he blew hot and cold at Old Trafford.

Depay eventually moved to Lyon in 2017. He has since rebuilt his reputation and is today a key player for the French outfit.

Upon moving to Lyon, the player told Jose Mourinho that he would get to the top. In fairness, he has taken his game up a notch in Ligue 1.

Mourinho expressed hope that Depay could one day return to United. While the Portuguese may not still be at the club, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could reap the benefits.

Depay made just 13 goal contributions in 53 games for United. He has enjoyed much better success at Lyon, where he has made 101 contributions in 143 games. (h/t Transfermarkt)

The Dutchman is a different beast from the one who left the club three years ago. It remains to be seen if he fancies setting the record straight at United.

With time running out, United risk falling behind their rivals without proper reinforcement.

We currently lack in both quality and quantity. Unless something is done, it could prove to be a long season ahead.
