Celebrating its 20th year, The Garden Gurus, Australia’s longest-running gardening program on commercial television, returns this weekend on Channel 9 and 9Now.
The new series is hosted by horticulturist Trevor Cochrane, gardening identity Neville Passmore, horticulturist and blogger Bonnie-Marie Hibbs, Greenology Landscapes founder and landscaper Nigel Ruck (ex-Backyard Blitz) and landscape architect Linda Ross. New presenters join the team, including celebrity chef Brendan Pang, lawn expert Michael Maartensz and plant biosecurity expert Dr Darryl Hardie, providing viewers of all ages and gardening levels with tips and easy how-to guidance each week.
A place to gather your thoughts, grow and cultivate your favourite flowers and plants, and the ideal spot to enjoy nature, a garden can be your very own oasis away from the outside world. But while the gardening process itself might look easy, a lot of work goes into creating that relaxing oasis.
In the premiere episode, the Gurus welcome pest expert Dr Darryl Hardie, who shares his tips on combatting aphids in the garden, and renowned chef Brendan Pang, who takes fresh, homegrown produce straight from Trevor’s backyard into his kitchen to turn fresh produce into amazing culinary delights.
Michael Maartensz is the lawn guru, and what he doesn’t know about creating the perfect playing surface isn’t worth knowing. Each week he will make the lawn fanatics’ day with sound advice on having the greenest lawn in the street.
Spring is the time of regrowth and new life, so naturally it’s also a great time to get your hands dirty in the garden. Spring is the peak growing season, and with the grow-your-own food movement massive amongst homeowners and the green-scene indoor plant craze taking off, this series is designed to make gardening even more successful and easier.
The Garden Gurus’ know-how will ensure your garden is the envy of your neighbours – not to mention your favourite place to put your feet up.
This 15-part series of The Garden Gurus will be broadcast across Australia on Channel 9. Previous series have been regularly broadcast internationally in seven languages to 86 countries.
The Garden Gurus is produced by Guru Productions for the 9Network.
