A 27-year-old man identified as, Taiwo Odetunde, has been arraigned in court for defiling two friends in Ado-Ekiti.
The young man was arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court by the Ekiti State police command.
Taiwo Odetunde was arraigned over alleged defilement of two friends, aged 13 and 14, who he lured with a promise of sewing face-masks for them.
According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Monica Ikebuilo, Odetunde committed the crime on June 9, 2020 in Ado-Ekiti.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 2 (2) of Ekiti State Gender-based Violence (prohibition) Amended Law 2019.
Inspector Monica Ikebuilo urged the court to remand the defendant in the correctional centre pending legal advice from the office of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Adefumike Anoma, did not listen to the plea of the accused man. She consequently ordered that he be remanded at the state Correctional Centre and adjourned the case till July 27, 2020, for mention.
