1 Dead, Car Split in Pieces After Grisly Crash on 101 Freeway

Stay with this article to find out more about this news. A fatal collision occurred on the 101 Freeway in Agoura Hills during the early Saturday afternoon, resulting in one person losing their life. The collision occurred shortly after 3 p.m., causing the involved vehicle, a Ford Mustang, to break into multiple pieces on the westbound side of the freeway, just south of the Chesebro Road off-ramp, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. Eye witnesses reported that bystanders tried to assist by throwing dirt on the flames that ignited after the car collided with a pole on the roadside.The collision occurred shortly after 3 p.m., causing the involved vehicle, a Ford Mustang, to break into multiple pieces on the westbound side of the freeway, just south of the Chesebro Road off-ramp, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. The driver was declared deceased at the scene. Authorities are probing whether street racing played a role in the incident. A SigAlert was declared around 3:30 p.m. and lasted for approximately four hours while the investigation unfolded. As SkyCal hovered above, a lengthy queue of vehicles extended for miles from the crash site.Agoura Hills operates under a City Council/City Manager governance structure, with a five-member City Council elected by residents to oversee city operations and guide community development. As of April 2022, the Agoura Hills City Council includes Deborah Klein Lopez (Mayor), Chris Anstead (Mayor Pro Tem), Linda Northrup, Illece Buckley Weber, and Denis Weber. The city attorney is contracted through RWG Law.As per the United States Census Bureau, the city spans an area of 8.2 square miles (21 km2), with all of it being land except for a minimal 0.04 square miles (0.1 km2) of water, constituting 0.37% of the total area. Agoura Hills features Ballard Mountain, named after John Ballard, a pioneer settler and freed slave. The mountain’s name was officially changed from Negrohead to Ballard in a ceremony on February 20, 2010. Ladyface Mountain, situated on the west side of the Conejo Valley, is another notable peak, reaching an elevation of 2,031 feet (619 m).
