I Thought I’d Be Married With Kids At 30 Because I Had Many Suitors, But it Didn’t Happen – Ashmusy

Nigerian actress and entrepreneur Amarachi Amusi, popularly known as Ashmusy, has opened up about the emotional pressure she faced after turning 30 while still unmarried.

The social media influencer shared her experience during a recent episode of BBC Africa’s podcast The Conversation, where she discussed relationships, societal expectations, and her decision to freeze her eggs.

According to Ashmusy, she genuinely believed that by the age of 30, she would already be married with children because she had many suitors during her younger years.

Speaking during the interview, she said: “I thought I was going to be married with kids at age 30 because I had many suitors, but it didn’t happen.”

Ashmusy explained that motherhood had always been one of her biggest dreams, especially during her twenties when she imagined herself settling down before reaching 30.

She noted that as the first daughter in her family, there was also pressure from society and relatives who expected her to get married and start a family early.

Despite having several men who wanted to marry her, the actress admitted that she struggled with trusting the dating process and feared rushing into an unhappy marriage.

According to her, many relationships around her appeared unstable, making her more cautious about choosing a life partner simply because of age or pressure.

Ashmusy said she eventually decided to prioritize peace of mind and personal happiness over societal expectations.

The actress revealed that this decision contributed to her choice to freeze her eggs, allowing her more time to carefully choose the right partner without feeling controlled by her biological clock.

She stressed that her decision was not because she was against marriage, but because she wanted to avoid making a permanent decision out of fear or pressure.
