US high school comedy, the cheekily-titled PEN15 from comedy trio The Lonely Island aka Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone, gets a Free to Air debut on SBS VICELAND next week.
The 10 part series, which has previously screened on Stan, kicks off with a double episode.
Comics Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle, who are full-on adults, play fictionalised depictions of their younger selves as awkward 7th grade outcasts, surrounded by actual 13-year-olds. Taking a nostalgic trip back to the year 2000, these two best friends face the trials and tribulations of middle school – from boys to school dances to overbearing parents – where the best day of your life can turn into the worst with the stroke of a pen.
Series One, Episode One:
First Day Seventh grade seems to be off to a great start for Anna and Maya when posters saying that all of the cutest boys in school love Maya, only to discover that it’s because Maya has been declared ‘UGIS’ – the “ugliest girl in school”.
Miranda A chance encounter in the girl’s restroom leave Anna and Maya fascinated by their bad-girl classmate Miranda, but they quickly get in over their head when they get invited to hang out with Miranda’s crew and Maya huffs computer cleaner.
Monday, 25 July at 9.25pm on SBS VICELAND.
