According to TMZ, the outdoor enthusiast was discovered dead on July 17 after a dog sitting at a residence near Prescott, Arizona. In 2017, Rauscher starred on season 7 of the Discovery Channel’s Naked and Afraid, followed by season 4 of the spin-off series Naked and Afraid XL in 2018. Jeremy McCaa, who appeared with Rauscher on both the original series and XL, reflects on her passing in a message to PEOPLE “We had instant chemistry from the moment we met. She was comparable to the sister I never had; our relationship resembled that of siblings, and we shared a special bond.
“She consistently puts others before herself. She was incredibly popular within the Naked and Afraid group. Everyone will mourn her loss “McCaa says. No evident indicators of foul play, drug paraphernalia, or a suicide note were reportedly discovered by the police. The dog was not injured. The Prescott Police Department and the Yavapai County Medical Examiner did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment immediately.
In an obituary, Philadelphia-born and -raised Rauscher was described as a “avid outdoor enthusiast who loved nature and all creatures great and little.””

During the Iraq War, she served aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN-17 as a member of the United States Navy. At the time of her passing, she was employed at the VA Medical Center in Prescott. Parents Daniel T. and Catherine A. Rauscher (née Weissman) and sisters Jeanette, Rebecca, and Alexis, as well as niece Aria and nephew Liam Parker, survive Rauscher.
