‘Barbarian’ slashes way to top of box office on Friday

“Barbarian” is for blood.

The Airbnb thriller directed by Zach Cregger earned $3.9 million in its premiere Friday, easily topping the summer blockbuster still in many theaters, According to BoxOffice Mojo.

According to Variety, it is expected to take in $9 million this weekend.

In second place was the Hindi action film Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, which opened with $2 million.

Brad Pitt’s “Bullet Train” came in third with $865,000. The action film grossed $90 million domestically and $109.5 million in international theaters.

Kirk Cameron’s “Lifemark” came in fourth with $855,466 in sales.

This year’s hottest Top Gun: Maverick took fifth place. $845,000. The Tom Cruise-led sequel has now made $703.3 million domestically and another $740.4 million internationally.
