The incident shocked a city – now a new TV series about the sordid saga of Brown Auckland mayor who sullied Len will be shown – but only after local body elections.

The $2.6 million public television feature “Princess Chaos”, which captures the lewd affair between former Mayor Brown and former council adviser Bevan Chuang, will be screened on TVNZ.

A source who watched the show said the infamous sex scene in Auckland Council’s Ngāti Whātua conference room did feature but was not depicted “graphically”.

Brown’s former mistress made headlines in 2013 when she went public with her two-year romance with him. After his successful re-election campaign, the scandal erupted for days in his second term.

At the time, Zhuang told the Herald there was pressure on a member of her right-wing rival John Pallino’s election team to disclose the incident. She later regretted making it public.

Chuang also had a romantic relationship with Palino campaign member Luigi Wewege, and when he found out, he wanted to expose the mayor’s infidelity.

Brown told the Herald on Sunday that he knew about the TV show but didn’t know “what was in it” and that he would not be attracted to the sex in the Ngāti Whātua conference room or watch “Princess Chaos” with his wife Shan Inglis .

“I don’t really know much about the film, and I’m not sure I want to discuss it with you,” Brown said.

Acclaimed actor and director Michael Hurst said he liked the role of Brown, but was also tight-lipped about the sex scene – Brown and Zhuang were caught having sex on a boardroom by a security guard.

“Hands on, I don’t know when it will air, I haven’t seen it. I love the character, I had a great time filming it, the script is great. But sorry you can’t draw it [the sex scene] leave me. “

Hirst said the film was made last year and he forgot the names of the actors who played Bevan Chuang, Luigi Wewege and John Palino.

Announcing the funding, NZ on Air said Princess Chaos was the story of a political scandal from the perspective of “another woman, Bevan Chaung”.

Zhuang once said, “This is a story of at least five men and one woman. When I needed them, none of them came to my rescue… They all wanted something.”

She declined to comment, but posted on Instagram: “Health Disclaimer: From my perspective, this is a fictional adaptation of part of my life story.

“This is not a documentary or an accurate historical description of the event.

“And no one is going to get rich out of this work. Please keep your abusive posts to yourself, to your own toxic circle of friends and followers, and live instead.”

Wewege did not respond to a request for comment.

Palino lives in Orlando and hopes to be Oakland’s next mayor. He said his campaign had received public support, but regretted not coming to New Zealand.

The father-of-two said he has been busy with the coffee kiosk business.

He doesn’t know much about the drama, but told the Herald on Sunday that a friend of his turned down the role.

“He said ‘I can’t do that.’ Obviously, it’s a fictional story based on her real life, so does that mean she can make up everything? I hope Bevin tells the truth,” Pallinoy said.

Palino is no longer in touch with Wewege or Chuang and regrets having them on his team.

“We never knew she was having an affair with Len Brown; she just told us he was harassing her and texting her and she wanted that to stop. Think about it, why would I want someone who had an affair with Len Brown It would be stupid to work opponents on my team. Wewege has dated Bevan before, but you wouldn’t date someone who fools around with the mayor, it’s disgusting. Someone suggested I throw Luigi under the bus, But I didn’t. So, when “this thing messed up, it looked like we knew more, but we didn’t.” It’s not fair that Bevin makes me look like her. “

Chaos Princess is produced by Flat3, an all-female production team that has garnered huge acclaim for its dark comedy Cream. A TVNZ spokesman said: “We are unable to confirm schedule details so long before airing. Cast announcements will be made closer to showtime.”

A source who watched “Princess Chaos” was full of praise for the 90-minute series, which also delved into Zhuang’s Asian upbringing and her strained relationship with her mother.

“The producers and directors have done a great job of that. The storyline is not just ‘the affair’ – it’s comical and heartbreaking. The heroine is very good. You have feelings for her and for women like her Feeling taken advantage of. Yes, she had an affair with Len Brown, but she was in love with Luigi Wewege, who looked awful.

The source said the sex scenes on the Ngāti Whātua board were not “vivid” and Brown was not portrayed as “vulgar”.

“The story ends in hope. I felt bad for Bevin at first, but at the end I thought, ‘You’ve come around and you know who you are,’. It didn’t paint her as a bad person at all,” the source said.

At the time of the scandal, Zhuang was a junior council adviser and a member of the minority advisory group. In 2012, she publicly expressed her desire to give birth to a child born in the Year of the Dragon, and has since become a clairvoyant.
