Chelsea have bounced back to winning ways following their 3-0 win over Leeds United at Elland Road. The Blues went into the Wednesday night, May 11, clash off a poor run of results that had seen them win just once in five outings.

Thomas Tuchel’s men had actually dropped points in their last outing after they drew 2-2 with Wolves at Stamford Bridge.

The West Londoners surrendered a 2-0 advantage at the time to settle for a draw at home in a result that had a serious implication in their hopes of finishing in the top three.

However, Chelsea picked up themselves during their trip to Elland Road as they registered a comfortable win to bag the three points against a 10-man Leeds side.

Romelu Lukaku’s revival continues

The match saw Romelu Lukaku continue with his resurgence as he scored his third CmaTrends for Chelsea in two outings. The Belgian was twice on target during his side’s meeting with Wolves and added to his tally when he scored one of his team’s three goals against Leeds United.

Tuchel’s charges had a blistering start to the match as they took the lead within just three minutes of action through Mason Mount.

things went from bad to worse for the hosts in the 24th minute when Daniel James was shown a straight red card for a rash challenge on Mateo Kovacic. Lukaku thought he had doubled Chelsea’s lead shortly after only for his effort to be chalked off.

Christian Pulisic went on to make it 2-0 for the visitors in the 55th minute before Lukaku finally got his name on the scoresheet with seven minutes left on the clock. Leeds United staring at relegation Leeds United’s defeat at home now leaves them with the prospect of being relegated at the end of the season.

The Whites are embroiled in a relegation battle as they currently sit 18th on the standings with 34 points, on level with Burnley who are a place above safety. The Jesse Marsch-tutored side will be hoping to pick favourable results in two of their remaining fixtures to boost their chances of avoiding the drop.
