Actor Ben Savage, former star of the ABC sitcom “Boy Meets the World,” is running for city council in West Hollywood, California.
Gawker has previously reported that Savage’s campaign has filed documents with the city. The actor, who has a campaign website, notes that he has lived in West Hollywood for 18 years.
“I have watched the city grow into one of the most thriving cities in the country – with extraordinary restaurants, hotels, nightlife and culture,” said a statement on Savage’s homepage.
“In recent years, however, there has been disillusionment with the direction the city has taken. Residents and community leaders have expressed frustration with political divisions and a loss of community awareness,” the statement added. “People long for leaders who can talk to each other, build alliances, work together on common-sense policies, and put the interests of cities and residents ahead of their own.”
It continued: “We can do better together.”
Savage portrayed Corey Matthews in “Boy Meets World” from 1993-2000 and spinoff “Girl Meets World” from 2014-2017. During this time, he graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Political Science.
As part of his studies, Savage interned for Sen at the time. Arlen Spectre, R-Pa.
The campaign’s website doesn’t say whether Savage is running as a Democrat, Republican or independent.
Fox News reached out to his campaign for comment, but they did not immediately respond.
