Meow Wolf is a nonprofit corporation founded by Matt King to promote âsystemic social change and well-beingâ through the arts. He formed it with Sean Di Ianni, Corvus Brinkerhoff, Emily Montoya, Caity Kennedy, Benji Geary, and Vince Kadlubek. He has participated in 34 community installations.
âWhat we want is people leaving and wondering whatâs real. Given who and what I am, what can I actually do to impact the world in a positive way? No, our outlook is not bleak. We donât want pessimistic forecasts.
Meow Wolfâs first location was The House of Eternal Return in Santa Fe, New Mexico. After its huge popularity, more monitors debuted in Denver and Las Vegas.
It focuses on the work of local artists and is based on âartist collaborationsâ. âArtists and storytelling from underrepresented and disadvantaged groupsâ is the groupâs main interest.
On social media, the Meow Wolf community paid tribute to the artist.
The official Meow Wolf website released a eulogy in memory of the founder. It applauds Kingâs pioneering efforts for the current state of the community.
Even before people realized the concept of immersive art, King was instrumental in the community and helped develop the first immersive art exhibit.
He went on to say that tributes from the Kingâs admirers and followers showed his influence in the Meowwolf community.
