Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, the president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, said on Wednesday that Nigerian faculty college students shouldn’t vote for politicians whose kids are enrolled in schools overseas.
Osodeke was speaking all through a Twitter Space Webinar titled “ASUU strike, Revitalization Fund, and the Way Forward” and hosted by Premium Times.
Speaking about some potential choices to the continued strike, he recommended faculty college students to not assist candidates who wouldn’t advance their pursuits.
“Anyone you believe cannot take care of your interests, whose children are busy studying abroad, who are living abroad, don’t vote for them,” recommended Osodeke. “I repeat, you don’t need to vote for them because you don’t vote for those who will take your life.”
Osodeke was responding to a query on what Nigerian faculty college students would possibly do amid the continued ASUU strike from well-known END SARS campaigner Rinu Oduala.
According to The PUNCH, the ASUU has been on strike since February 24, 2022, and Nigerian faculty college students have repeatedly had their hopes of a resumed class dashed on account of the lecturers have refused to return as a result of what they declare is the Federal Government’s failure to uphold the settlement it made with them.
