
Eric Greenspan is a famous chef and popular TV personality. He is the author of two cookbooks: The Great Grilled Cheese Book: Children’s Classics for Adults (published by Ten Speed Press) and Cooking Cozy with Eric Greenspan (co-published with WW).
Eric attended the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in Paris after earning a BA in Business Administration from the prestigious Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. He then trained in New York with famous chefs such as Alain Ducasse, David Bulli and Rocco Despirito, and worked with three-star chef Ferran Adria in Rosas, Spain. Adria) as an apprentice at El Bulli restaurant.

As Executive Chef at the renowned Patina restaurant in Los Angeles, Eric has been acclaimed for his imaginative and daring cuisine and was named one of Angeleno Magazine’s Eight Hot Chefs of 2003. His kitchen is the best French restaurant in the 2004 Zagat guide.
Eric opened The Foundry in Melrose in the spring of 2007 to similarly rave reviews and great success. The Foundry was ranked second in Los Angeles Magazine’s Best New Restaurants category. The restaurant has won many awards for its elegant bar, live music and unrivaled cuisine. Condé Nast Traveler named it a “Best New Restaurant,” entered LA Magazine’s Top 75, and was one of the late food critic Jonathan Gold’s “Essential 99” restaurants, featured by LA Weekly Pulitzer approved. The Foundry was also shortlisted for the James Beard Foundation’s Best New Restaurant in America.
Since 2011, Eric has hosted, judged, competed and appeared on countless TV shows including Food Network, A&E, National Geographic, NBC, Fox, Travel Channel, FYI, Tasted, Tastemade, Facebook Watch and more. He beat Bobby Flay in Iron Chef America, is a regular at Food Network’s Guy’s Grocery Games, and is a regular at Guy’s Ranch Kitchen.
In 2017, Eric founded Alt/Grub/Faction, a takeaway-only “virtual” kitchen operation and concept incubator consisting of four brands: Chino, 2 on a Roll, Brekkie Breakfast Burritos and Bubu’s Birds and Burgers. Greenspan has emerged as a leading figure in this emerging market, and his work and insights on ghost cooking have been featured in Food & Wine, Los Angeles Times, Restaurant Host, and Insider.
Eric has advised on many aspects of the food industry, including concept development, product development and strategic marketing. He is currently a brand ambassador for WW (formerly Weight Watchers) and 505 Southwestern. He has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, Wine Spectator, Art Culinary, Los Angeles Confidential, Los Angeles, and Los Angeles Magazine. Named “America’s Most Notable Chef” by 944 Magazine. He also won the 2008 Grilled Cheese Invitational. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two sons.
