early life
Mohammed was born on 4 October 1980 in Leeds, West Yorkshire. His mother was a Cypriot-born general practitioner and his father was an Indo-Trinidadian legal professional. Abbey Grange High School is his alma mater for secondary education. He apparently declined an offer from Cambridge University and chose Durham University, where he was a member of St Aidan’s College and played the violin in the University Orchestra. He auditioned twice for the Durham cabaret but failed to get in, instead frequenting the local comedy scene. It was because of his interest in humor that he decided to try footlights, which he did very well. He was contacted by a BBC producer after a performance at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
