GATES, Ore. (KPTV) – According to the Oregon State Police, a car slid down an embankment late Monday night and caught fire, resulting in the death of the driver inside the vehicle. When the incident happened, the Kenworth CMV was traveling west on Highway 22, close to milepost 35, and it veered off the road. After the car caught fire, it was beyond repair and had to be scrapped. At the scene of the accident, medical responders pronounced the driver deceased. Following the notification of the driver’s next of kin, the OSP will divulge the driver’s identity. Highway 22 was closed for almost three and a half hours due to the incident.
