It all comes to a head when it is discovered that Naomi Judd, half member of country music duo The Judds, has abandoned her daughters Ashley Judd and Wynonna Judd. Naomi Judd committed suicide in April 2022. The 76-year-old former nurse left her husband Larry Strickland a $25 million fortune. According to the will, Strickland has âcomplete power and discretionâ to deal with estate assets as he sees fit, including the sale or lease of those assets, without judicial authorization or âjoint union of any beneficiariesâ. Under the contract, Strickland is also entitled to âfair remunerationâ for his work and any expenses, such as attorneyâs fees and accountantsâ fees.
In addition, the will provided that Reginald Strickland and Daniel Kris Wiatr would act as co-executors if Strickland was unable to administer the properties. Reginald Strickland is Naomiâs brother-in-law. Wiatr is the principal of Wiatr & Associates, an accounting and business management firm. Naomiâs Will Preparation Day is November 20, 2017.
According to witnesses who signed the document, she was âclear-headed, memorized, and understanding, and was not bound or in any sense incapable of preparing her last will and testament.â Although the sisters were uncomfortable discussing their motherâs death at length, they did so to ensure it didnât come to light on its own.
âShe used a weapon,â said Ashley, who hosted Diane Sawyer on âGood Morning America.â Since my mom used a gun, thatâs the last thing we want to share. However, we realize that if we donât say it, others will. She also discusses what itâs like to make an amazing discovery. âI visited at home, as I did every day when I got back to Tennessee; I saw my mom and dad. I replied, âOf course, I would,ââ when my mother asked if I would be with her, she added. âI found her when I went upstairs to tell her her dear friend was there. I was traumatized and saddened when I found her.
Naomi suffers from depression, and sheâs been candid about her mental health issues, especially the grief that has kept her from moving for two years. The day before her death, Wynonna and the rest of the Grammy-winning Judd family were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
According to Radar Online, the Judd sisters had been at odds for a while before the drama broke out over their disinheritance by their late mother Naomi. In response to Naomiâs âconfusingâ choice to exclude them from her $25 million estate, Winona, 58, blamed her 54-year-old siblings. According to reports, Winona intends to formally challenge her motherâs wishes because she feels Ashley and Larry are âconspiring against her.â
The famed siblings have had their fair share of arguments over the years, though the will-drama seems to be reviving their tensions. Winona apparently disliked Ashleyâs comments at the Womenâs March on Washington, D.C., following Donald Trumpâs inauguration in 2017. Ashley at the time referred to Trumpâs criticism of Hillary Clinton while reciting comments made by a 19-year-old girl in Tennessee, declaring, âIâm a horrible lady.â I was like a guy who seemed to be bathing in Cheetos dust as disgusting as people. A man whose remarks distracted America. Later, Wynonna defended herself, telling her Twitter followers that she was not involved in âpolitics.â When a fan mentioned Ashley on Twitter, the performer responded: âThe whole thing is toxic. Iâm not going to put all the blame on her. She lacks that kind of authority. Later, Wynonna said, âI would never insult my sister. â
This comes after Ashley reported the tracking device she found in the car in a police complaint in 2013. She thinks Winona is wrong. In the end, the gadget was connected to a private investigator in Nashville. Later, Wynonnaâs lawyers told police her client had purchased the gadget from a private investigator but argued that Wynonna transferred it to Graceâs father, Arch, who they said left it in Ashleyâs car. A source familiar with the matter told the National Enquirer that Ashley and Winonaâs friendship âturned into a rivalry,â adding that after Ashley published her biography âEverythingâ in 2011 After âItâs All Bitter and Sweet,â tensions intensified. The bookâs publication coincides with the start of Winona and Naomiâs debut on their own reality TV show and their farewell tour. Ashley diverted most of his attention. The insider went on to say that their interactions have been awkward since then.
