Harris Teeter Shooting – Following a gunshot close to a retail mall in Charlotte, one individual has life-threatening injuries

Harris Teeter Shooting –  According to Medic, a shooting that took place at a retail mall in the southwest part of Charlotte on Tuesday morning resulted in injuries to one individual that were considered to be life-threatening. At approximately 10:45 in the morning, Medic posted on Twitter that they had dispatched paramedics to the site located in the 4000 block of Berewick Town Center Drive. That is accessible via Steele Creek Road, which is located immediately south of Interstate 485. According to audio that was obtained by The Charlotte Observer through Broadcastify, a police officer can be heard reporting “shots fired” near a Harris Teeter and requesting CMPD units over emergency services communications.

The audio was provided by the emergency services. The audio does not make it abundantly clear what occurred before the shooting. According to the officer, there was a gun exchange between two “random individuals,” and then one of the “random guys” began to chase the other toward the neighboring Hampton Inn & Suites hotel. The shopping mall is primarily anchored by Harris Teeter as one of its tenants.

No information regarding the incident has been made public by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. This is a narrative that is still unfolding.
