Triathlon New Zealand director Pete de Wet said the investigation would take one to three months.
“Because it’s high profile, they put a lot of time and energy into it,” he said.

“It’s a lot of work…it’s a detailed and lengthy process. You can only try it once.

“We want our athletes to do the right thing and it wasn’t clear that day that the decision was the right one. We absolutely stand by him.”
Silver medalist Wilde was penalized for unfastening his helmet early between his bike and his running legs. He led the turn by more than 16 seconds and finished the race 13 seconds behind.
After nearly an hour of multi-angle review, the competition jury was unable to make a final decision at all.
“It’s happened before, there have been two gold medals,” Wilde said after the Birmingham game. “We’re terrific partners behind the scenes and we’re great opponents on the pitch. I don’t want to take that medal from him – he definitely deserves it.
“When I crossed the line, I told everyone there was nothing we could do right now. But it sounds like we could try to do something. I don’t know much about it.
“This is the first time this has happened to me, so I’m as clueless as you are.”
