The Variety magazine editor who asked Kim Kardashian to share her âadvice for women in businessâ has angrily fired back at Kimâs claims that her comments were âtaken out of contextâ by the publication.
Â
Kim, 41, sparked fury early in March after she was quoted as telling the magazine that women need to âget their f***ing a**es up and workâ, before complaining that âit seems like nobody wants to work these daysâ.
Â
A lot of women advocates and feminists blasted her as âtone deafâ and out of touch following the publication of the interview .
Â
Actress Jameela Jamil also blasted Kim on Twitter, noting that â99.9 per cent of the worldâ grew up in very different circumstances to the reality star.
Â
âI think if you grew up in Beverly Hills with super successful parents in what was simply a smaller mansion⊠nobody needs to hear your thoughts on success/work ethic,â Jameela wrote.
Â
âThis same 24 hours in the day s**t is a nightmare. 99.9% of the world great up with a VERY different 24 hours.â
Â
In an interview with Good Morning America, on Monday, March 28, she insisted that her comments were âtaken out of contextâ by Variety.
Â
She also claimed that the question about her advice for women came after the interviewer â Varietyâs Chief Correspondent Elizabeth Wagmeister â suggested that she was just âfamous for being famousâ, which she said made her entire âtone and attitude changeâ.
Â
âWell that statement that I said was without questions and conversations around it, and it became a soundbite really with no context,â she explained
Â
Wagmeister has now hit back at Kardashian on Twitter, insisting that the Skims founder was asked a âvery direct questionâ and that the âquestion about [her] being famous for being famousâ was actually posed after she offered up her advice to women in business.
Â
âItâs not what she claims,â Wagmeister tweeted. âI just reviewed the raw footage. The question was very direct: âWhat would be your advice for women in business?â The question about being famous for being famous came after that question, actually.â
