The show continued for Krysta Rodriguez, when the Broadway actress was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 30.
Although she thought she would temporarily stop working while she was undergoing treatment, the actress — best known for her role as Wednesday Adams in the Broadway musical “The Addams Family” — continued to work.
“Jobs actually started looking for me,” said Rodrix, who also played Liza Minnelli’s small screen on NBC’s “Smash” and Netflix’s “Halston.” The actress told The Washington Post that she played multiple roles while battling the disease. “I didn’t mean to work, and it was really lovely that I ended up with two of my favorite jobs.”
Rodriguez, 38, who will star as Cinderella on Broadway’s “Into the Woods” on Sept. 12, will headline a “One Night Stand” with ABCD, a virtual fundraiser Event to provide free one-on-one services to the nonprofit ABCD After Breast Cancer Diagnosis. A guide for anyone facing combat.
The event will take place at 8pm at Midtown supper club 54 below and will be on live streaming.
“It’s going to be a night of my favorite shows, shows I’ve been on, some Liza stuff, some Broadway stuff, some jazz, some mashups,” Rodriguez said. “We’ll tackle my cancer journey, but we’ll also have a fun and uplifting night of entertainment.”
