(WPEC) — The State Attorney for the Fourth Judicial Court in northeast Florida explained why a police officer in Jacksonville had to shoot and kill a woman who had stabbed him.

The shooting happened on April 11 outside a house in the northwest part of the city. The body camera video shows what happened. Local news says that when the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office called about a fight between roommates, they sent officers to the scene.

In the video, when a female officer comes to the door, Leah Baker runs out with a big knife and stabs the officer in the arm.

Leah Baker video left the netizens shocked. The girl tried to attack the police officer with the butcher. The police officer was justified in shooting her.

“I just got f——-g stabbed,” the officer says over her radio as she walks away.

Before firing two shots, the injured officer tells Baker to get down on the ground and drop the knife. The woman is told to drop the knife by the officer’s partner.

The woman then runs toward the second officer, who fires several shots, knocking the woman to the ground.

In the video, the woman lies on the ground for a while but tries to get up. More officers with guns drawn showed up. Then, an officer uses a taser on the woman after a K-9 dog grabs her leg.

Baker died at the hospital in the end.

Officer’s body cam footage shows the whole thing, which happened on April 11 and was recently made public. According to news4jax.com, the responding officer got a call about a fight. She knocked on the door at that point and met Baker. Footage shows Baker ran out of the door, lunged at the officer, and stabbed her in the arm. The officer makes space right away by moving away.

Ken Jefferson, a safety expert, told news4jax.com, “When she knocks on the door, she takes a step back,” which can be seen in the video. “She could have easily stabbed her in the upper torso or even in the face or neck.”

Then, a second officer came to the scene and told the suspect to stop immediately. But Baker quickly took the knife and ran at the officer. He shot Baker four times, killing him for good.

“That happened so quickly that he could have been stabbed himself if he hadn’t stopped the threat. So, he did the right thing,” Jefferson said to

Baker died of her injuries in a local hospital, news4jax.com said. The State Attorney’s Office said both officers were proper to do what they did.
