Police are investigating more burglaries in Auckland overnight – including armed robberies of a dairy and a store that was attacked eight times by attackers.
West Auckland Police are appealing for any information from the public about an armed robbery at a Westport dairy last night.
Authorities were called to the dairy in Clearwater Bay shortly after 6pm.
“Two men entered the store with weapons at 6.15pm. They took money from the cashier and left the store,” a spokeswoman said.
It is unclear what weapons were used or if anyone was injured.
However, officials are calling for anyone who may have seen the two people involved or any other suspicious individuals in and around the area at the time to come forward.
Police were then called to the Ōrākei Fine Wines & Spirits liquor store on Coates Ave just before 4am after reports of a car being used for assault-style theft.
The car, a Nissan Tilda, was left at the scene and later towed away.
Photos show the damage left by the store – shattered glass and shattered bottles of wine and alcohol littered the grounds both inside and outside the store.
The owner came to the scene, devastated; told the Herald it was the eighth attack on his shop.
“This happened to me eight times. Eight times — eight times,” he repeated.
“The store next door has been hit three times in the past four months.
“I applied for bollards and got nothing. I’m not asking for money. I just want permission for bollards.”
He said he hoped the media coverage would shed light on what was happening to people like him.
Five other stores in a store block in Howick were also targeted overnight – this time in a burglary-style burglary.
