Matthew McDonough Death – Authorities Say A Modesto Man Was Detained In The Deliberate Killing Of A 38-year-old Man

Matthew McDonough Death  – A Modesto citizen has been taken into custody by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the shooting death of 38-year-old Matthew McDonough on Thursday near the Modesto City-County Airport. McDonough and an unnamed adult female passenger were traveling Thursday when the suspect, 39-year-old Modesto resident Matthew Cook, leaned out of his own automobile at the junction and fired into McDonough’s vehicle, according to a news release published by the Sheriff’s Department on Sunday.

According to officials, McDonough was shot and murdered. The car’s passenger sustained no injuries. Cook allegedly left the area in a vehicle. According to the authorities, everyone involved knew one another. Deputies secured a Ramey arrest warrant for Cook following the murder, and on Friday in the late afternoon, they located him close to the intersection of Coffee Road and Coolidge Avenue. According to law officials, Cook was apprehended without incident and booked on homicide suspicion at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center. He is being jailed without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday for his arraignment.

Although the murder weapon is still at large, authorities claim that they have not yet discovered any other suspects in the case.
