Official: Chelsea confirm transfer dealing for midfielder who was Frank Lampard’s teammate

27 year old Marco Van Ginkel will be heading once again, for the third spell, to PSV having won two Eredivisie titles in 2016 and 2018 where he was club captain.

Van Ginkel who hails from Netherlands has battled a knee injury which needed a surgery. He has had a long rehabilitation period as his last game was back in 2018; two years ago.

He signed for the blues in 2013 from Vitesse Arnhem. His playing time has been struck with injuries which limited his appearances for Chelsea in his debit season. In an attempt to improve, he went on loan spells to AC Milan, Stoke city and PSV where he has enjoyed the most success since he moved there in January 2016.

The Midfielder has an eye for goal as he scored eight league goals for the Dutch side in 16 games as PSV retained the Eredivisie title.

He went back for another loan spell in January 2017 having missed the first part of the 2016/2017 season owing to injuries

Just like his first spell at the club, he scored in the first match of his loan at PSV and as usual, a regular supply of goals from midfield which made him appointed club captain in Eindhoven for the 2017/18 season as he lifted the title after a memorable 3-0 win over eternal rivals Ajax.
