Paddington Bear Tribute to Queen Elizabeth A few months later on Thursday, the pair took part in a heartwarming skit for the late monarch’s platinum jubilee in June.
Paddington and the Queen warmed everyone’s hearts in a hilarious afternoon tea skit united by their love of jam sandwiches.
“Thank you, ma’am, for everything,” tweet Bear.
This sketch, which kicks off the festival on June 4, shows Paddington and the Queen sitting down for a nice cup of tea, before the bear drinks almost all of the water, then just a few drops.
Paddington then offered the Queen a marmalade sandwich he kept in his hat “just in case”.
“Me too,” the Queen replied, pulling a sandwich from her signature handbag.
“I put mine here.”
This light-hearted sketch takes a more serious tone as Bear thanks her for 70 years of service to Britain.
“Happy Jubilee, Madam. Thank you. For everything,” Paddington said.

A waiter then informed Her Majesty that the jubilee was about to begin, causing the bear and monarch to tap the beat of “We Will Rock You” before transitioning to a liver show outside.

The Queen spent half a day in Windsor filming the sketch, according to an insider, and she allegedly kept the whole thing a secret from her family.
The skit’s co-author Frank Cottrell-Boyce recalls how much the monarch loved being in front of the camera.
“She has more lines in Paddington’s sketch, in part because it’s so much cheaper to shoot her than Paddington,” Cottrell-Boys points out. “But she did a great job and she enjoyed it. It wasn’t easy. Paddington wasn’t really there, so technically it was a terrific show and a fantastic comedy show. .”
The Queen keeps a sandwich in her purse, which is also a tribute to her favourite food. More recently, Darren McGrady, Queen Elizabeth II’s former personal chef, spilled tea at the Queen’s favourite teatime — apparently, the same thing she grew up eating: jam sandwiches.
“As a child, the Queen got jam pennies in the nursery. She’s been drinking afternoon tea ever since,” McGrady claim on his YouTube channel.
