
Ramon Nieves was born in San Juan on June 13, 1975. He grew up in Toa Baja, and lived there in 1998. He has lived in San Juan since then. Nieves attended Colegio San Antonio in Río Piedras and graduated in 1993. Nieves attended the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras in 1983. Three years later, he received his bachelors degree in social sciences.

In 2000, he also earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law. That same year, he became a lawyer after passing the bar exam, allowing him to practice law on the island. Nieves joined the Puerto Rico Bar Association in 2001 and has been practicing law since then. He specializes in commercial and contract laws after getting a degree.
In 2004, Nieves became the Vice-President of Legal Affairs at R&G Financial Corporation. He is also a member of the law firm he started in 2010 back into the practice.
He was chosen by the Association to be one of the members of the “Ad Hoc Commission on the Death Penalty.” Since 2003, he has been a representative of the Association at the Board of Directors of the Community Legal Office in San Juan, which provides free legal advice to low-income families.
