Kalpavriksha Giri Maharaj was a regular visitor to the Vanvasi Temple in Jogeshwari of Mumbai. He also used to visit Pimpleshwar Mandir in Kandivali in order to meet Sushil iIri, another saint who was also lyunched by a rioting mob in Palghar. A news outlet visited the crime scene and talked to many local people to know more about the incident and several people who wished to remain nameless clued that the lynching of the saints was part of a political conspiracy.
The local inhabitants of the area stated that the tribals living in Palghar had never assaulted or abused any saint in the past, adding that in facts sadhus are conceded a lot of respect by the side of the tribals. In particular, Palghar is dominated by tribals and it is a bastion of Communist and like-minded parties.
