It is with deep sadness that everyone at the club announces the passing of our former chief scout Steve Rowley after a brief illness.

Steve, 63, has been linked with the club since taking on a part-time role in our Essex youth scouting operations in January 1980. Notable early success in identifying talent – including Tony Adams and Ray Parlor – secured full-time positions during George Graham’s tenure as manager.
In 1996, Arsène Wenger appointed Steve as our chief scout, a position he held until 2017.
During his four years at the club, Steve and his scouting network were responsible for identifying and protecting the many players who have been instrumental to the club’s success on the pitch.
Our thoughts are with Steve’s family and friends these days.
Rest in Peace Steve
