Take 5 with Zan Rowe » Olite

Double J radio host Zan Rowe is bringing her radio show and podcast, Take 5 with Zan Rowe to the small screen in a new ABC series.

The five part series profiles music and screen stars as they share five songs they love and explore their connection to the soundtrack of their lives: Guy Pearce, Keith Urban, Missy Higgins, Tony Armstrong and Tori Amos.

“Music, just like smell or taste, is sensory memory. We’ve all had those experiences where we hear a song and we’re transported back to an exact moment in our life,” says Rowe.

From acclaimed actor Guy Pearce exploring the impact of losing his father at a young age, to music icon Keith Urban sharing his unexpected passion for electronic music and the story of finding himself at rock bottom with nothing to lose. And, in a deeply personal conversation, Missy Higgins opens up to Zan in an extraordinary interview you won’t forget. While Australia’s favourite sports presenter, the charismatic Tony Armstrong shares life lessons and the highs and extreme lows of his AFL career, and finally, the legendary Tori Amos talks about her fight to be heard as a woman in music, the endemic nature of sexual assault and how the fight continues.

Using music as the blueprint to the lives of each guest, expect intimate, revelation fueled conversations that cast the people you know in a whole new light.

Tuesday, 20 September at 8pm on ABC.
