Tampa man arrested, faces charges in shooting death at Shell gas station

Tampa Shooting – The Tampa Police Department announced on Tuesday that a man in his 24th year from Tampa was taken into custody on Sunday in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred on August 24 at a Shell petrol station. According to the statement released by the police department, responding officers found a 26-year-old guy with multiple gunshot wounds when they arrived in the parking lot of the Shell station located at 2924 N. 50th St. just before midnight. He was transferred to a local hospital, but he did not survive his stay there.

The name of the individual who was fatally shot has not been released by the agency. On September 7, the police made public their suspicions regarding Derick P. Bowden’s involvement in the death of the 26-year-old man and announced that they had obtained a warrant for his arrest. Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay was offering a reward of $5,000 for information that would lead to the arrest of Bowden.

According to a news release issued by the Tampa Police Department, detectives were able to locate and apprehend Bowden at an address in Hillsborough County on Sunday as a result of a tip received through Crime Stoppers. According to the records kept at the Hillsborough county jail, Bowden is currently being held on accusations of first-degree murder as well as being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.

He was taken into custody and lodged in a Hillsborough County facility. According to the records, he was still being held in custody as of Tuesday evening despite having a bail amount of $510,000 posted.
