Filipino actor and singer-songwriter Inigo Pascual has joined the cast of Fox’s upcoming musical “The Monarch” to star. He will appear alongside Susan Sarandon, Albie Roman, Anna Friel, Trace Adkins and Beth Ditto.
Created by Melissa London Hilfers, Monarch is described as a Texas-scale multi-generational musical that tells the story of the Romans, America’s first country music family. Leading the Romans is country music genius Dottie Cantrell Roman (Sarandon), a talented but bad queen. Along with her beloved husband Albie (Adkins), Dottie created a country music dynasty. But even though Roman names are synonymous with authenticity, the basis of their success is a lie. When her reign as country queen is threatened, Crown Prince Nicole Wright “Nicky” Roman (Frier) will do whatever it takes to protect her family’s legacy while protecting her own quest for glory.
Pascual will play Ace Grayson, a talented and sensitive 18-year-old girl adopted from an orphanage by Nicky (Friel) and her husband Clive. He’s a truly swaggering phenomenon on stage with dreams of becoming a country star like his grandfather Albee, but despite being part of a golden family, his road to success has encountered some challenges.
Silvers will write and produce, while Royal Pain Instinct creator and executive producer Michael Rauch will serve as writer and executive producer on the project. Gail Berman and Hend Baghdady are also producing with Sandbox Entertainment’s Jason Owen. Jason Ensler will direct and executive produce the first episode. Adam Anders serves as executive music producer. Monarch is produced by Fox Entertainment.
The actor also joins recently announced cast members John Sass and Megan Holder.
Hollywood newcomer Pascual has made waves in the Philippine music scene with his self-titled debut album, which topped Billboard’s Philippines charts. In June, he released his second album Options. Most recently, he made a cameo appearance on Netflix’s “Jo Koy: In His Elements.” He is represented by Authentic Talent & Literary Management, Cornerstone Entertainment and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson and Christopher.
