The EV is equipped with an AMG-specific electric motor on each axle, and India-specific models come standard with the Dynamic Plus package. With the Dynamic Plus package, the EQS 53 produces 761 horsepower in Race Start mode and 1020 Nm of torque when the boost function is engaged. Mercedes-AMG claims that the EQS 53 can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kilometres per hour.

The EQS 53 has front and rear multi-link suspension, but AMG claims that it has reworked components such as the rear axle beam, subframe, and motor mountings. It also features AMG’s Ride Control+ air suspension, which functions in tandem with electronically controlled active dampers and rear-axle steering.

In addition, the model is equipped with a variety of AMG driving modes that modify the suspension, handling, power delivery, and battery management, as well as the synthesised sound. Additionally, EQS 53 owners can install over-the-air updates for the battery management system. The EQS 53 also includes AMG Track Pace, a software that records more than 80 vehicle-specific parameters, such as speed and acceleration, while driving on a racetrack.

Standard on the EQS are 21-inch wheels and high-performance AMG brakes; larger ceramic brakes are available as an option. Included in the standard EQS Sound Experience system is a performance mode for Dynamic Plus models that adds “event sounds” for all vehicle functions.

Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+: aerodynamics and exterior design

Over its smooth and well-rounded cab-forward design, the EQS 53 receives a number of unique AMG styling elements, many of which resemble the classic design traits of AMG’s ICE-powered vehicles. These include a custom front grille with “hot-stamped” chrome vertical struts and a redesigned front bumper. While the AMG model shares the same 0.23Cd as the standard EQS, AMG claims to have conducted wind tunnel testing to optimise the airflow, reworking the rear diffuser, side air intakes, and rear spoiler.

Interior and features of the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+

The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ introduces Mercedes’ “Hyperscreen” for the first time in India. The ‘Hyperscreen’ consists of three screens connected by a single glass panel that stretches from pillar to pillar along the length of the dashboard. The driver and front passenger each have a 12.3-inch display, while the central infotainment screen is 17.7 inches. It has 24GB of RAM and 8 processors.

The EQS 53’s interior features sportier touches, such as carbon fibre accents and an alcantara finish on the door pads and steering wheel. The EQS 53 comes standard with 64-color ambient lighting, a Burmester sound system, massaging seats, and Nappa leather as an option. Next month, Mercedes-Benz will introduce the standard EQS in 580 form. Unlike the AMG model, it will arrive in India via the CKD route.
