Tim Saunders is a Cornish poet and journalist who writes primarily in Cornish, but also in Welsh, Irish and Breton. He lives in Cardiff but is of Cornish descent. He was Gorsedh Kernow’s minstrel, literary historian and editor of The Wheel – a Cornish anthology of modern poetry from 1850-1980. High Tide is a collection of poems he wrote in Cornwall from 1974 to 1999.

Tim’s daughters Gwenno and Ani Saunders were former singers of British indie pop group The Pipettes, and Gwenno also played keyboards and is now a solo artist.

Sanders opposed the standard Cornish playbook, saying: “The offensive notion that we are stupid enough to need an ‘unbiased outside expert’ to resolve our differences is simply despicable. This kind of transparent shenanigans requires A scholar with limited knowledge of the Cornish-speaking community and not responsible for making laws about it. No respected scholar would take such a condescending attitude to damage his reputation.
