Authorities say a 15-year-old Westchester County girl was arrested Friday after reportedly fatally stabbing one teen girl and slashing another during a parade celebrating the local high school basketball team’s state title. According to Westchester County District Attorney Mimi Rocah, the suspect is accused of fatally stabbing a 16-year-old girl named Kayla Breonna Green on Gramatan Avenue in Mount Vernon at roughly 3:55 PM. On Friday afternoon, near the end of the march, a terrifying video was captured of a girl wielding a knife and swinging it openly among a swarm of many young females fighting. The situation was quite upsetting to behold and hear. During the melee, Kayla and her friend were stabbed. According to a police statement, one of the victims had non-life-threatening injuries, while the other, a 16-year-old girl, was gravely harmed and died while being transported to Jacobi Medical Center.
The case has caught the attention of the authorities and the investigation into the case has already started. Despite the frightening news getting announced on social media, the names of the individual arrested and the two adolescents who were stabbed were not released by police on Saturday. As already mentioned above, Kayla Breonna Green was identified as the victim. Her distraught mother shared heartbreaking images of her daughter at a recent Sweet 16 party and in the hospital bed.
Needless to say, Kayla’s mother was devastated to learn about the sudden passing of her young daughter. She said that she is not strong and asked everyone to pray for her during this hard time. The mother of the dead teenager further said that she is at a point where she feels like dying. She added that she wants to get buried along with her daughter. Green’s mother added that her daughter was only 16-year-old and they snatched her daughter from her.
Even writing RIP feels so unreal, Kayla’s mother added. Talking about the event where this horrifying incident happened, it started as a city-wide celebration for Mount Vernon High School’s basketball team at around 11 AM with members of the Mount Vernon Knights’ undefeated team.
