American rapper Kanye West has described Wizkid’s hit single ‘Essence’ as the greatest song in music history.

The single was released on October 30, 2020 as the fourth single from Wizkid’s fourth studio album Made in Lagos produced by P2J and

Legendary beatz.

Essence is the eleventh track of ‘Made In Lagos’ (MIL) with wide acceptance among local and international artists.

The song has been certified gold in the US, silver in the UK, and gold in New Zealand.

Essence won the Outstanding Music Video category at the 2022 NAACP Image Awards, 23 spots on the Hot 100 to peak at No. 59.

In July, the single became the first Nigerian song to hit the Billboard Hot 100 and the third from Africa.
