Mohammed Aliyu, whose wife Ummulkhairi Usman was burnt to death by a mob in Kaduna State after being accused of stealing children, has stated that he is now left alone to care for their children
According to a report by Daily Trust on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, Aliyu said that before his wife left home, she told him she was going for her studies. He stated that he wished her a safe return, not knowing it would be the last time he would see her.
Aliyu said he cries whenever he looks at his children. He said at night his four-year-old daughter kept asking why her mother had not returned home and he tried to comfort her
Aliyu described his late wife as a peaceful and God-fearing woman and appealed to the government to ensure that justice is served.
In Aliyu’s words: “What pains me most now is that I am left alone with the children. Whenever I look at them, I cry. Last night, our youngest child, who is four years old, kept asking why her mother had not come home, and I could only try to comfort her”
