In a recent interview on Channels TV, on Monday, June 1, 2026, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike spoke about allegations, public scrutiny of public officials, and repeated claims surrounding his personal assets, particularly accusations linked to properties abroad.
During the interview, Wike addressed concerns raised in public discourse regarding claims that he owns property in the United States, insisting that such allegations have continued to circulate without concrete evidence.
Speaking during the programme, Wike stated, “Up till now, what has happened to the house that Wike bought in Florida?” He made the remark while responding to activist Omoyele Sowore, who has previously accused him of owning a house in Florida.
Wike questioned the persistence of the allegation, suggesting that critics often repeat claims without providing verifiable proof. He argued that public office holders are frequently subjected to scrutiny, but such scrutiny must be based on facts rather than speculation or political narratives.
The FCT Minister further maintained that misinformation can distort public perception and distract from governance responsibilities, stressing the need for accuracy when discussing issues relating to public figures.
He also noted that allegations about personal wealth and assets should be properly investigated through appropriate legal and institutional channels rather than being amplified through public commentary.
Wike emphasized that his focus remains on governance and development within the Federal Capital Territory, including infrastructure delivery and public service improvements aimed at benefiting residents.
He concluded that public discourse should be guided by evidence and fairness, adding that repeated unverified accusations should not define the reputation of public officials or overshadow discussions on governance and national development.
