During a live interview on Channels Television on Tuesday, June 22nd 2026, Peter Ayodele Fayose has responded sharply to recent criticisms directed at him, dismissing claims and narratives he described as “cheap” and unworthy of serious political discourse.
Speaking during a political reflection, the former Ekiti State governor rejected suggestions that questioned his financial standing or influence, insisting that such arguments underestimate both his background and network.
“That is too cheap. What does Ekiti have? Let us just look at it,” Fayose said, brushing aside the criticism.
He went on to assert that he maintains strong relationships with influential associates beyond the state, suggesting that attempts to frame him within narrow financial limitations were misguided.
“I have too many big friends if I need money. Not at that level of discourse,” he added, emphasizing that his political and personal connections extend beyond local considerations.
Fayose also indicated that he would not engage deeply with those he considers his critics on such matters, suggesting a firm dismissal of their viewpoints.
“I will join issues with them. They are little minds,” he stated, a remark that underscores his combative political style and long-standing reputation for blunt public commentary.
Political observers note that Fayose’s remarks reflect his continued presence in Nigeria’s political discourse, even after leaving office, where he often speaks on governance, opposition politics, and leadership dynamics in Ekiti State and beyond.
