Biafra Soldiers Shattered My Door With Bullets, I Threw Grenade At Them And One Shouted Chineke -Isama

General Godwin Alabi Isama (rtd) has spoken about how he escaped being killed by Biafran soldiers in Asaba during the Nigerian Civil War
In a video shared by BBC News Africa, General Isama stated that on August 8, 1967, at about 10 a.m, Biafran soldiers came to his residence looking for him
General Isama said he was already expecting them and had armed himself with a grenade and a submachine gun. He said they shot at his glass door and shattered it so he immediately responded by throwing a grenade at them through the broken glass
General Isama said one of the Biafra soldiers shouted “Chineke” when he saw the grenade. He added that the explosion killed all the Biafran soldiers because they were gathered together.
In General Isama’s words: “They opened fire, it was a glass door and they shattered the glass. Then I opened my grenade and threw it through the shattered glass and one of them said Chineke. Luckily because they bunched together it killed them”
